The main difference between coaching and counseling: Counseling is an internal exploration-of our unconscious drives and how they affect our current behavior.
Coaching is a practical assessment of where we are in our lives, where we would like to be and the actionable ways to get there.
During counseling one learns to explore obstacles and discover solutions in their own time. This process can not be rushed as there can be layers of wounds and corrective behaviors that were adaptations for survival and these behavior patterns can become entrenched. These old ideas and patterns can become a sense of identity which may need to be unlearned. Real change come from within. During the therapeutic relationship we companion clients self discovery towards wholeness and health.
Coaching is more practical and directive— coaches can take an active role in assessing obstacles, as well as exploring solutions; it is geared towards optimizing areas of your life, as opposed to deeper healing of unconscious wounds.
