Psychiatry speaks to the science and art of looking at mental distress and how to treat it. At Home LA we are committed to being part of the changing face of psychopharmacology. We believe strongly in education and help our clients to understand their medication options as well as non-medication option. We recognize that the human effort to avoid suffering can lead to the development of unhealthy patterns of behavior as a means of protection from what we fear most. Our goal is to reduce suffering and increase joy. Home-LA offers a spectrum of healing and transformative modalities that include medication management, meditation, psychotherapy, body-based (somatic) therapy, trauma therapies, novel psychopharmacology, energetic healing modalities, breath work, bodywork, and more. Our staff is trained to treat PTSD with MDMA and *psilocybin and continue to monitor the ever-changing landscape for psilocybin and MDMA legalization.

Modern psychotherapy has evolved through a variety of social sciences, spirituality and neuroscience. It is an organic field that can be molded to meet the evolving needs of clients. Negative beliefs, self-limiting emotions, past trauma and current life stressors all work together to create dysfunction, and it is this dysfunction we will explore together with the goal of creating a path to internal harmony . Home LA clinicians integrate the many schools of psychotherapeutic thought and decades of experience and education to personalize therapeutic treatment. We thrive to empower clients to live their best lives. We honor the delicacy of the therapeutic relationship and that healing comes in many forms.

Somatic Therapy

Soma means body in latin. The mind body connection allows us to recognize ways in which we store our lived experiences in the body. It offers us a Neurobiological understanding of how the body holds onto trauma. This therapy speaks to bringing the body into the therapeutic healing process. Somatic therapy is less about thinking and more about feeling, learning to be present with the body and be aware of how our nervous system responds to sensory and remembered information. Learning how to tune in to what the body needs. One of the goals of somatic therapy with clients that have a history of trauma is learning to be the one to control the nervous system as opposed to the nervous system controlling us.

Bodywork and Chinese Medicine

Chinese Medicine utilizes therapeutic modalities that help alleviate stuck energy, pain, trauma, and emotions in the body. Emotions can stand for “energy in motion” and oftentimes when we cannot process emotions, they get stuck in our physical and energetic bodies. Modalities such as massage, acupressure, acupuncture, cranial sacral work, movement, and yoga help tap into the subtle and physical body. Through these practices, we can safely release stuck emotions, process trauma and pain, and find freedom from whatever conscious or unconscious emotions may be inhibiting our fullest expressions. At Home-LA we offer a range of passive and active energetic healing modalities. These treatments can be experienced in conjunction with a therapeutic aid of low-dose ketamine. Together, ketamine and hands-on therapy, can facilitate a powerful shift to release blocked energy, trauma, and emotions within the body.

Breath is essential to life. It is the first thing we do when we are born and the last thing we do when we leave. The mind, body, and breath are intimately connected and can influence each other. Our thoughts influence breathing, and our breath can influence our thoughts, feelings, and physiology. Pranayama Breathwork can be a valuable tool in helping to restore balance in the mind and body. This ancient technique was developed thousands of years ago in India. The basis for all deep breathing practices originates in the science of yoga, specifically the branch of yoga known as pranayama. The word pranayamais derived from two Sanskrit words: prana (life force) and yama (control). By controlling your breath, you can influence every aspect of your life. You can train yourself to breathe in a way that positively influences your health.

Pranayama Breath Work is a 2 step breathing practice that can help a person connect with and process any feelings, emotions, memories, and sensations stored in the body. This breathing technique is a way to integrate the feelings of the body with the thoughts of the mind. Connecting with the breath is a way to unlock stuck emotions; it can help work through past traumas and limiting beliefs and is a simple and powerful healing modality.

 Curated Group Experiences

Since the beginning of time psychedelics have been used to broaden our consciousness. Psychedelic medicines have been used for rites of passages, to build community and help with healing and growth. Contemporary use of these medicines have the potential to offer transformative experiences and gathering together amplifies the power.  We welcome you to co-create groups for personalized  exploration. For instance families seeking to explore  legacy burdens. Colleagues seeking to communicate better. Artistic  endeavors utilizing psychedelics to aid in creative process. Colleagues and friends looking to explore spiritual growth.  We look forward to welcoming creative inspiration and exploration.

Group Therapy

Isolation and the lack of human connection can lead to depression, anxiety and existential crisis. Group therapy offers the benefits of reconnection with each other and ourselves, and opportunity to heal in community and can be less expensive than individual services. Home-LA offers group therapy ketamine sessions and group integration. Groups are cohort specific.  Some past groups have been specific to address in trauma, substance use,  grief and loss, depression, social anxiety and life transitions. Interested? Psychedelic Integration

Psychedelic experiences create a non ordinary state of consciousness that can offer profound transformation. Oftentimes during the psychedelic experience previous traumas or childhood experiences present themselves and through integration we have the opportunity to make meaning out of difficult experiences. Integration is the process that allows a momentary glimpse of illumination to evolve into sustained changes.

Recovery and Addiction ConsultationServices

Home-LA works in partnership with clients to create a personalized treatment plan. The process begins with getting to know you as an individual. Through information gathering we will discover which modalities you’ve tried, find out what has or hasn’t worked, discuss your options and create an integrated individualized treatment program. In an ongoing effort to support mind body and spirit, we explore drug, alcohol and other complicated addictive patterns to address their underlying causes. We appreciate the nuanced challenge of finding the right plan. Clinicians and caregivers at Home-LA draw from decades of addiction recovery, psychiatry, psychology and spiritual work to develop a creative approach with clients and their families. In addition, we provide support to facilitate connection with external resources such as inpatient detox, rehabilitation centers, sober living or creative and personalized outpatient approaches to meet your specific needs.
